Tips

  • Address a person, not 'To whom it may concern'. Find the hiring manager or team leader on LinkedIn or the company site.
  • Keep it under 150 words and make one clear, small ask (a short chat), not 'please give me a job'.
  • Follow up once after 5-7 working days. If there's no reply, move on politely.
  • Send 10 a week rather than 1 perfect one. Track them in a spreadsheet.
  • Small NZ businesses often hire without advertising, especially in trades, hospitality, construction and the primary sector.
