Subject: Following up - [Job title] - [Your name]
Hi [Name], I hope you're well. I'm following up on my [application on date / interview on date] for the [job title] position. I remain very interested in the role. Do you have an update on the timeline? If it would help, I'm glad to provide references, work samples or anything else. Thanks again for considering me. Kind regards, [Your name] [Phone]
Tips
- Wait until the stated date has passed. If no date, wait about a week after an interview, 1-2 weeks after an application.
- Follow up once or twice, then move on. Keep applying elsewhere in the meantime.
- A phone call to a small business can work better than email.
- If they say no, thank them and ask if they would keep your details for future roles, and if they can give feedback.
- Record all follow-ups in your job-search tracker (also useful as evidence for Work and Income).
